USWNet stands for Ultrasonic
Standing Wave Network and was initiated in 2003 bringing together many researchers developing USW
techniques in Life Sciences.

"Ultrasound Standing Wave Action on
Suspensions and Biosuspensions in Micro-
and Macro-Fluidic Devices"
This Advanced Course
held at CISM
International Centre for Mechanical
Studies took place
7th
-11th June, 2010
CISM have announced this
Advanced Course which is highly
appropriate for anyone already involved or becoming involved
in all things USW. Members of the USWNet
have been instrumental in putting
together an truly exciting and
interesting programme, which encompasses
the manipulation of bio-suspensions,
in micro- and macro-fluidic devices.
Postdoc Research Assistant (Algae Biofuel Project) needed
to deliver an algal oil extraction process in which ultrasound and ionic
liquid solvents work in concert to efficiently recover the oils.
Post based at Coventry University under the
supervision of Dr E Joyce and Prof T J Mason.
EAA EUROREGIO 2010 Congress on Sound and Vibration
integrating a summer school "Forum of Young Researchers in Acoustics"
The Congress is organized as a joint meeting of the European Acoustics Association (EAA),
Alps Adria Acoustics Association (AAAA), Slovenian Acoustical Society (SDA),
Austrian Acoustics Association (AAA) and Acoustical Society of Croatia (HAD).
The Congress will be held from September 15th - 18th September 2010 at the University of Ljubljana located in the
centre of the capital city of Slovenia.
Announcing the
new centre for Acoustophoresis - CellCARE
Based in Lund, the centre targets four different medical areas
which will be addressed with acoustophoresis as the fundamental technique to process cells.
CellCARE is being coordinated by Dr. Thomas Laurell who has secured funding
of €0.5M per year to run the centre over a 5 year period.

Aims of
the network
The USWNet aims to:
Encourage research collaborations
Disseminate information on properties and performances of USW
fields
Involve industrial partners for production of
devices
Bring together Life Sciences interests in USW
Inform powerful research grant applications
This website is a central point of contact and reference
for this exciting field. So please browse this website to learn about
our activities and use this site to feature your own USW movies,
publications and research.
